How exciting, my first What I Wore outfit post! I’m conquering my fears, hangups, and extreme shyness to share something I love, and that’s huge!
Why? Because I love style. I love clothes and accessories, and I love wearing them. So naturally, I love sharing them! Creating outfits is a creative outlet for me, and who doesn’t love sharing their art?
Obviously, I’m not a model and lack everything a person needs to be one. Don’t bother leaving comments telling me I’m ugly or fat, because that is not the point. I am not posting pictures so you can look at me – I’d rather you focus on the style. Honestly, I have always hated having my photo taken and believe I’m the most UN-photogenic person on earth.
I’m doing this because I want to share my ideas. I want to inspire you to try new things, in fashion but also in life. I want you to understand that even though you’re a busy mom with a million things going on, there is always room for style. I want to help you develop your own personal look, not tell you what to wear or say you need to dress like me.
Style is completely objective. Some people will think I have horrible style, and they wouldn’t be caught dead in my favorite clothes. I don’t always follow the trends, but I wear what I like. What I like may change from week to week, but that’s another story all together.
I want to show you that style and money do not go hand in hand. As you will see in future What I Wore posts, I create my looks using almost completely thrifted and discounted items. Being the frugalista I am, I’m extremely proud of this. I believe that anybody can go into any thrift store and come out with an amazing outfit for under $10; it just takes some creativity and vision.
Finally, I want feedback! Who doesn’t wish they had someone who they could ask “How does this look?” and receive an honest answer? I would absolutely love it if my readers would give me honest feedback! I’m no fashion expert, just someone who loves playing around with and experimenting with different looks. Feedback is invaluable to me, so I can learn more about what works for me and what doesn’t.
The necklace is made of tagua seeds, which are native to Amazon rainforest. I love how unique it is, and all of their jewelry is just as cool! I highly suggest checking out Mujus.com. I got this necklace at a huge discount by buying through Sneakpeeq, which is a social daily deal site that I’ve posted about before.
While I can’t tell you how to find this exact dress on Ebay, I can tell you how I found it. Since I love Anthropologie but can’t afford to shop there, I like to search for ‘Anthropologie’ on Ebay and see what comes up. That is how I found this dress, new without tags, originally bought at Anthro. The thin burlap-y material is definitely unexpected, but I love it!
Sole Society is one of those subscription sites, only you don’t have to buy shoes every month – I’ve posted about it in the past. I actually got a deal on Plum District, a daily deal site, for $10 for a $50 Sole Society credit. I happened to have a $5 coupon for Plum District, and ended up buying these shoes at a grand total of $5. While I didn’t get the ones I ordered due to some kind of mistake on their part (the ones I wanted were colorblock nude/brown instead of all brown), I was too lazy to return them.
Again, I love feedback! Honesty is much appreciated!
